Service Project - Annual Parish Picnic - Sunday, September 15th

Posted on Sep 13 2019 - 11:21am

As mentioned at last week's troop meeting, we have been asked once again to help out with the annual parish picnic starting at 10:00 AM this Sunday.  This is a good opportunity for Scouts who need service hours for rank advancement and/or Confirmation service hours.  Please RSVP on the Troop website so we can get an idea of headcount.  Like last year, the Troop will help with the set-up of tables and chairs in the morning, and clean-up when the picnic is over around 5PM.  When responding on the website, please make a note in the comments field if you plan to attend all or just a portion of the day.  There will be additional tasks throughout the day where the Troop can be helpful like serving the food, and volunteering to help with games and activities. They really appreciate our efforts every year.  Also, please be reminded that as a Catholic sponsored organization, each Catholic scout and leader’s first priority should be to go to mass each week on Saturday night or Sunday.  Therefore, we ask you, if at all possible, to go to mass on Saturday night so you are free to help on Sunday.  If that is not possible, let the leader in charge know on Sunday, so you can attend one of the morning masses.  Please wear your red Class B T-Shirt and feel free to reach out to any of the troop committee with questions.

We hope everyone enjoyed their summer and took some time off to relax with family and friends.  With another summer behind us, it’s time to turn our attention to the beginning of another great year of scouting with Troop 38.  Troop meetings will be held every Sunday night in the Church Hall at 6:30 PM unless noted otherwise on the troop calendar.  Please refer to the Troop website at for announcements and calendar updates throughout the year.  As a reminder to Scouts (and Leaders), Class A uniforms should be worn, and Handbooks brought to every Troop meeting.

Eagle Scout Candidate, Christopher Filipowicz, would like to request your help with his Eagle Scout Project.  The project involves creating a mural on the wall in the hallway of the Greenwood Elementary School (between the Cafeteria & Library) using latex paint and acrylics.  The mural depicts kids having fun on the playground and the school’s six core values.  The project will take place every day this week from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  Please sign up on the troop website on the day(s) you wish to volunteer.  See details below:

Summer Camp Information

Posted on Jul 12 2019 - 3:23pm

It’s almost time for summer camp!!!  Your leaders at camp for the week are Mr. Schaeffer, Mr. Pross, and Mrs. Leiggi.

I’m sorry for the late email, but it took a little time to figure out some logistics (thank you to the DiClaudio’s for pulling the trailer up to camp!).  Please meet at OLS by the trailer at 10:00 AM on Sunday morning.  Please arrive on time.  We will try to put as much of the boy’s bags in the trailer as possible because it can be driven into the campsite.  Anything that does not fit in the trailer will have to be carried/walked in.  We are staying in the Bayview campsite (camp map attached).  As a reminder, parents should plan to drive their boys to camp unless you have made other arrangements.  It takes about two hours to get there and check-in starts at 1:00 PM.  You may want to pack a bag lunch, or we can plan to stop on the way at a rest area for quick bite and a bathroom break.  Attached is a copy of the directions for your convenience.
