CREW 38 MEETING THIS SUNDAY - SITE CHANGE - IT IS A SWIM MEETING

Posted on May 18 2012 - 10:11am

Instead of our usual meeting at the Church, THIS SUNDAY's MEETING (May 20th) has been moved to the Leavey house for a joint meeting with the troop to conduct Swim tests - and have some early summer fun. If we are going to have any aquatics activities - like a canoe or rafting trip - BSA requires that members be swim tested before they go - that is ALL members - youth and adult. So,since Mr. Leavey has so graciously offered up his pool to conduct the swim classification test we would like as many of you as possible to be there. The tests will be conducted by a certified life guard - our own Cynthia Leavey. Here are the test levels:

Reminder - Next Troop Meeting - 5/20 Swim Test

Posted on May 17 2012 - 3:54pm

As a reminder, the next Troop meeting will be held this Sunday, May 20th at Assistant Scout Master Chris Leavey's house. Mr. Leavey has so graciously offered up his pool to conduct the pre-camp swim classification test for the boys in advance of the start of summer camp. Ockanickon Scout Reservation strongly encourages units to complete their swim tests prior to camp. Doing so can shave much time off of our Unit check-in and help Scouts succeed without the pressure of the arrival at camp. If they cannot make the pre-camp swim test, that's ok, they will be able to do it at camp with the rest of the campers, however, we highly recommend doing it now vs. later. They will be tested on the below classifications by a certified life guard.
